Donna Nook Grey Seals

Donna Nook is an active RAF base in Lincolnshire - UK, and plays host to the annual birthing and mating activity of thousands of grey seals.Activity is strongest at the end of November and early December, and is always worth a trip! Although activity starts a long way out to sea, it culminates with new-born seal pups coming within a few feet of the beach paths (although this is all fenced off at this time to prevent injury of disturbance). Once the females (cows) have given birth, the males (bulls) move in, and the fight is on to hold their territories until the cows come into oestrus...
